Coloring Sheets for Daisies and Brownies

This year, Junior Troop 5130 has been completing their Bronze Award project: a year-long educational initiative to teach other Girl Scouts about how to help the homeless.  We've created many resources (which will be shared via this blog and distributed via social media).  Originally, our goal was to host all of our events as in-person events, but with Covid-19 sheltering, we have had to make additional plans for virtual programming.  We will be sharing a couple of badge earning sessions via this blog that integrate discussions of the homeless.  We want to provide parents and leaders with tools that can keep girls engaged in Girl Scouting while also educating them about our topic!

One of the Juniors, Chelsea, is a fabulous artist.  She created these coloring sheets to share with Daisies and Brownies.  Enjoy!!  Leave us a comment with your art!

Video: Guide to Completing the Daisy Petal for Rosie

During the Covid-19 shelter, we want to make sure that Daisies are still connected to Girl Scouts! In this video, Missiah, from Junior Troop 5130 reads the story for Rosie the Rose, who is committed to making the world a better place. Daisies can watch the video and follow the steps that Missiah describes to complete the Rosie petal. Missiah also provides some of the details from Troop 5130's Bronze Award project, focused on educating Girl Scouts about ways to help the homeless. For details about the organization she mentions, Angels in Motion, and their sleeping mat project, visit their site .

Junior Journey in a Day: Agent of Change

As many troops are moving to online meetings, it may be fun to attempt a journey.  Last fall, I hosted a Journey in a Day for Juniors to complete the Agent of Change journey in one day-long retreat.  The event was held in a library so we were able to research female change agents in the children's biography section... but girls could research via the internet (maybe watch YouTube videos) in place of that... Leaders, take a look at my plan and feel free to make it your own!
